More and more people have the opportunity to come into contact with and fall in love with sailing. After training, they can no longer hold back their desire to compete. Whether you're a sailing lover or a sailing athlete, a grand event will always lift your spirits. Check out the different sailing competitions around the world.

1. CLIPPER ROUND THE WORLD

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is "the world's most influential sailing event" and "the largest amateur circumnavigation of the world", with three sailings since its inception by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston in 1996.

The 15,000-nautical-mile Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has become one of the most famous round-the-world sailing events in the world (the equivalent of 57 FASTNET races or 55 Sydney-Hobart races combined).

2. Volvo Ocean Race

Founded in 1973, it has become indisputably the world's highest-level round-the-world sailing race, known as the Everest of the sailing world. In this ocean-going event of the highest competitive level, the fleet not only has to face the harsh marine environment test, but also has to be tense at all times to compete with nearby competitors.

3. America's Cup

Originating from August 22, 1851, it is the most influential and prestigious sailing event today. Together with F1, the World Cup and the Olympic Games, it is known as the four most influential traditional sports events in the world, attracting the world's top sailors. It represents the highest level of competition and the most cutting-edge sailing design concept.

4. Vendee Globe

Founded in 1989, it has been held every four years since 1992. Solo, round-the-world, uninterrupted, complex and changeable marine environment, sailing for about 3 months without assistance. You can imagine the rigors the contestants face, and that's what makes it so appealing.

5. Sydney Hobart

Held since 1945, the race starts from Sydney on December 26 every year and ends in Hobart, Tasmania, with a voyage of about 630 nautical miles. Although held during the local summer, the notorious 'southerly buster' will put the fleet to the test of strong winds, severe cold, bumps and other references.

Every year, teams drop out of the race and are considered one of the toughest sailing events in the world.

6. Fastnet race

The first competition, held in 1925, sailed along the southern coast of England to southern Ireland, with a total range of about 603 nautical miles. Unpredictable weather conditions always play a key role in the race, from stormy to calm. Like Sydney Hobart, it is considered one of the toughest sailing events in the world due to its complex climate and dangers.

7. Cowes week

Originating in 1826, it is one of the oldest and most successful sporting events in the UK, with 40 games a day, more than 1,000 boats, 8,500 runners, and 100,000 spectators. There is no doubt that this is one of the largest regattas in the world, and with these numbers and its long history, there is no doubt that it ranks among the top ten regattas in the world.

8. Extreme Sailing Series

Founded in 2007, it is the youngest event in this ranking. In 2010, it became one of the four special events approved by the International Sailing Federation, which is as famous as the Volvo Ocean Race, America's Cup and World Sailing Tournament. The form of the Extreme 40 Regatta is a series of field races at sub-stations.

The competition uses near-shore competition waters. Each session attracts the world's top professional sailors to participate. The competition is thrilling, full of confrontation and super ornamental.
