Hey Lykkers, have you ever wanted to visit a city that offers the perfect mix of rich history, stunning beaches, and delicious food? We recently traveled to La Coruña, a beautiful coastal city in Galicia, Spain, and were amazed by everything it had to offer!

Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a relaxing vacation, La Coruña is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

The Tower of Hercules: A Landmark Steeped in History

Our first stop was the Tower of Hercules, one of the oldest lighthouses still in operation today. Standing at over 55 meters tall, this UNESCO World Heritage site has guided sailors safely to shore since the 1st century AD. We couldn’t help but marvel at the stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean from the top and the fascinating blend of ancient architecture with modern technology.

The Tower of Hercules is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, with an entrance fee of €6 for adults and €2 for children. We found that the hike up to the top was well worth the ticket price, offering some of the most incredible views in La Coruña. Make sure to visit on a clear day to capture panoramic shots of the coastline!

Riazor Beach: Relax by the Sea

After a historical adventure, we headed to Riazor Beach, one of the city’s most popular sandy spots. The beach is not only perfect for swimming, but also for taking long walks along the shore or enjoying the view from one of the many beachfront cafes. We spent a relaxing afternoon here, soaking up the sun and watching the waves crash against the rocks. The beach is ideal for both families and solo travelers, offering plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the scenic views.

Riazor Beach is open all year round, and the best time to visit is during the summer months when the weather is warm, and the beach is lively with visitors. There are no entrance fees, but we highly recommend exploring the nearby promenade where you can find numerous restaurants and shops to enjoy local seafood and Spanish delicacies.

Practical Information for Your Visit

When planning your trip to La Coruña, be prepared for moderate temperatures, especially in spring and autumn when the weather is perfect for sightseeing. Summer can get warm, but the ocean breeze makes it enjoyable. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for exploring, as the city has many cobbled streets and hills. Public transportation is available, and the city is very walkable, so we didn’t need a car during our stay.

For a unique experience, we suggest staying at Hotel Riazor, located just a few minutes’ walk from Riazor Beach. The hotel offers comfortable rooms with ocean views, and the prices start at €80 per night for a standard double room. It’s a great option for those wanting to be close to both the beach and the attractions we visited.

La Coruña is truly a place that has something for everyone, whether you're drawn to its ancient history, beautiful beaches, or stunning views. We loved exploring the Tower of Hercules and relaxing at Riazor Beach, and we know Lykkers would feel the same. The city's charming atmosphere, friendly locals, and incredible sights make it an unforgettable destination for any traveler looking to explore the beauty of northern Spain!
